Provides overall supervision, coordination, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities on the project construction site.  Completes project requirements as per plans and specifications on time and on budget, in cooperation with the Project Manager.  Responsible for the implementation and overall enforcement of health and safety  program and quality control processes on site.  May supervise, coach and mentor other Superintendents and Engineers and develops positive relationships with all stakeholders.



1. Proficient knowledge of construction methods, systems & materials.  Keeps current on changing technology/methods and industry practices through continuous learning.

2. Proficient knowledge of layout and survey principles and equipment to ensure the building construction is within contractual requirements and tolerances.

3. High level of understanding of OHS Act & Regulations and Heritage Safety program and considered a Competent Supervisor under the Ministry of Labour guidelines. Ability to enforce H & S policies and implement procedures with a "zero" tolerance attitude in order to ensure a safe workplace as outlined in #2 under Key Responsibilities above.

4. Ability to understand and interpret contract documents, Shop drawings, and Specifications. Be familiar with subcontractors contract including scopes of work, exclusions, clauses, and limitations.

5. Ability to proficiently use e-mail, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project, to communicate information effectively to subcontractors and all project stakeholders.


Education: University Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology/Architecture or Construction Management, or Trade Designation, Gold Seal or working towards.

Experience: Minimum Five (5) years experience as a Superintendent and well developed knowledge of the construction process, finance, and management.  Knowledge and understanding of Company and industry practices, processes and performance standards.
