Project Details

This project was a phased demolition and reconstruction of the emergency department, pediatric care, crisis intervention, renewal centre, cafeteria, surgical day care/intensive care unit, chemotherapy and rehabilitation departments. The scope of this work included complete demolition and reconstruction of the architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical components of these departments including a complete upgrade of the building's fire alarm system, chiller system complete with new cooling tower, medical gases and fixed fitments such as headwall units, surgical lights, exercise cages and nurses’ stations. On the 6th floor the upgrades also included a new exterior curtain wall and roof system. This project involved complex planning and staging to ensure the continued operation of the hospital while also maintaining public safety and infection control.
